Robert Kennedy Jr, More Sittings

My recent sitting with Robert Kennedy Jr. for The Atlantic was my fifth session with the candidate. This second blog post features images from the three sessions between our initial meeting and the recent sitting.

Top Image: Robert Kennedy Jr. with son RFK III, in an underwater photograph. Shot for an Outside Magazine reportage story on Kennedy’s activism on the Futaleufú River in Chile, March 2003.

Second Image: Kennedy with then wife Mary Richardson, in Chile, March 2003.

Third Image: Featured in the front of Kennedy’s law offices in White Plains, NY were two giant aquariums. When I meet with him there for our second shoot in July of 2001, I made a off-hand joke about photographing him in the fish tank. He paused for a few seconds, and then said, “I’ll go put on my swimming trunks.” His staff were genuinely concerned that the tanks wouldn’t be able to handle the amount of pressure that an adult human would add, but Kennedy just shrugged it off.

Bottom Image: A BTS shot from a 2016 sitting for Kennedy’s book on his cousin Micheal Skakel. Left to Right: Chris Buck, Kennedy, Skakel, intern Alexey Korotkov. Photo by Michelle Watt.
